Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9

Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9

Billed as “the best tablet at any price,” by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is similar to previous offerings but with a bigger screen and LTE connectivity.

The new Kindle Fire HDs are a vast improvement on the original products which would feel blocky. The new Kindles are almost identical so you’ll have trouble telling them apart and with their matte black finishes, similar to the Nexus 7.

Although they still don’t match the looks of either the Nexus 7 or the Apple products, the new Kindle Fire HDs are a lot better than the original Kindles which felt like children’s toybooks.

The proved new and i1920 x 1200 display has a pixel density of 254ppi,lower than both the iPad and Nexus 10, but the image quality is so good, it’s really hard to tell the difference.

If you read more than you watch films then you should choose the 7-inch model but if you love cinema the larger screen and definition make the 8.9 a winner. Unfortunately, neither on the new Amazon offerings are as good as Apple’s or the Nexus 7.

If, however, you get most of your content through Amazon, you might be persuaded to go Kindle, especially as you can plug the HDMI into your TV. But for all round performance, entertainment and emailing, Apple and Google products are still better.

Although, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 offers the best film viewing experience in the market when compared to iPad, iPad Mini or the Nexus 7.
